New York City planning officials aim to revitalize a 42-block area in Midtown South, introducing a draft zoning plan that would permit taller, mixed-use buildings in the region between Fifth and Eighth avenues. The proposed Midtown South Mixed-Use zoning plan has the potential to generate nearly 4,000 new homes, approximately 25% of which would be income-restricted, aligning with the Mandatory Inclusionary Housing requirements that the Department of City Planning intends to incorporate into the city’s zoning map.
