WCRE Helps Feed the Community with 12th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive

WCRE | CORFAC International (WCRE) celebrated its 12th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. The event continued WCRE’s mission of supporting local families and strengthening community care.

This year’s food drive held greater urgency. Federal funding for food stamps has been reduced or cut, leaving many families without needed support. The impact has been felt by working households, veterans, and individuals on disability. As a result, demand for food assistance has surged across the region.

More than 200 bags and boxes of non-perishable items were collected, along with $4,500 supermarket gift cards and donations. All contributions were delivered to the Samost Jewish Family and Children’s Service (JFCS) Food Pantry in Cherry Hill, NJ.

For twelve years, support has been gathered from clients, partners, and colleagues throughout the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey region. The JFCS Food Pantry serves families in Gloucester, Camden, and Burlington Counties.

With reduced federal food stamp funding and rising grocery costs, local needs have surged – pushing demand to nearly a 40% increase at its peak. When SNAP benefits were first cut, the pantry saw usage climb to 155 families per week.

While it has since leveled to an average of 115 families per week, the need remains significantly higher than in previous years. Since the reductions, 90 new families have turned to the pantry for support. Notably, 70% of households served are non-Jewish, underscoring the pantry’s non-denominational and inclusive outreach.

“WCRE has remained a strong partner in our mission,” said Meridith Seligman, Director of the Rhona Fischer Family Assistance Program at JFCS. “Cuts in food assistance have created urgent needs. WCRE’s support brings real relief to many families. We are deeply grateful for their continued partnership.”

Local businesses, long-time supporters, and first- time donors contributed this year. Community involvement strengthened the effort and expanded support for residents facing hardship.

WCRE’s community impact extends far beyond the food drive. A portion of transaction proceeds is directed to regional nonprofits year-round. Since the creation of the WCRE Foundation in 2016, more than $900,000 has been raised for local causes.

The WCRE Foundation supports many organizations, including Bancroft, Ronald McDonald House of South Jersey, The American Cancer Society, I AM ALS, Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice, and the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey. Additional nonprofits are supported as part of WCRE’s wider community mission. Clients may direct the charitable portion of their transaction proceeds to the nonprofit of their choice.

As WCRE marks twelve years of community service, its mission remains strong. The company continues to advance hope, stability, and meaningful support across the region.
