On March 31, Washington, D.C.-based Risant Health, a nonprofit organization affiliated with Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente, completed its acquisition of Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health. The acquisition marks a significant step in Kaiser’s plan, announced in April 2023, to establish Risant Health with its inaugural health system. Jaewon Ryu, MD, currently the president and CEO of Geisinger, is slated to assume the role of the first CEO of Risant Health. Terry Gilliland, MD, is set to take over as president and CEO of Geisinger following Dr. Ryu’s transition, as outlined in an April 2 news release from Geisinger.
