A new $12 million grant program designed to bring Covid-19 relief to Philadelphia restaurants and gyms that have been particularly hard-hit by pandemic restrictions is launching later this month, city officials and economic development agency PIDC announced Friday morning.
The Philadelphia Covid-19 Restaurant and Gym Relief Program comes as restaurateurs have been lobbying for help for months as the ongoing pandemic continues to significantly thwart business. The grant initiative was specifically formulated in response to certain industries being steamrolled by the most recent round of coronavirus restrictions that the city implemented Nov. 20 in efforts to curtail rising case counts.
