The City Planning Commission has approved the Adams administration’s comprehensive commercial zoning reforms, named City of Yes for Economic Opportunity, advancing it to the New York City Council. The reforms, targeting easier business expansion across the city, encompass updates for retail, nightlife, industrial space, manufacturing, life science labs, film studios, and home businesses. The 11-to-1 vote signifies the penultimate step in the nine-month public review process for the 20 zoning adjustments affecting the entire city. The final step involves a vote by the full City Council to formalize the proposals into the zoning code.
